The Salmon Hotline

Every year thousands of sport fishers converge on the banks and waters of the Kenai River for their chance to hook and cook one of the worlds most palatable delights, the Kenai River Sockeye. The management and owners of Pacific Star Seafoods are dedicated to providing only the best of the best Sockeye salmon for this direct delivery opportunity. Only sockeye graded No.1 for color, texture, and freshness will be selected for inclusion in this program. The customer will only have to choose between fresh or frozen. Either product will represent the finest of quality.

SalmonWe will be glad to ship you a twentypound box (or increments of 20 lbs.) of sockeye salmon to any destination you choose. Our price is simply $7.00 per pound including actual shipping charges, for headed and cleaned sockeye salmon. These fish usually average 5 to 6 pounds, dressed and cleaned weight, so you will receive about 4 or 5 fish to a box. Think about that next family reunion, that backyard barbecue with friends, the company picnic or a delicious main entree for your upcoming wedding reception! If you are a true salmon lover, you can simply hit your freezer any time of the year for the great taste of Alaskan Sockeye salmon!

Brief History
The original facility, which is today the site of Pacific Star Seafoods, was erected soon after the turn of the century and operated as a family run saltery near the mouth of the Kenai River. Enough salted, preserved salmon was prepared each year to ensure a steady diet of fish during the winter for the early pioneer families living in and around nearby Kenai, Alaska.

In 1946 the first cannery was built on the site. In 1950 the plant was named the Kenai Salmon Packing Company, a.k.a. Kenai Packers. The Kenai Packers name stood for the best in salmon products for the next forty-four years until May of 1994 when Pacific Star Seafoods, Inc. purchased the facility and has maintained the same high quality operation ever since.
